Unknown Journey

I stand at the edge of the dark forest
My two friends are at my side
The one named FEAR is whispering in my ear
She is saying, "Do not go into the unknown..
There lies possible danger and pain."
Her body is stooped with worry
She trembles as she whispers in my ear
"Look back at where you've been
Find the happiness behind you and dwell
You know not what lies beyond
Turn and go back now
You know with certainty what is there."
My other friend is COURAGE
She stands straight and tall
Speaking with great confidence
She smiles as she tells me to venture forth
Fear not what lies ahead
For we are strong and capable
And life shall greet us with open arms
We shall meet the pain and danger headlong
And put them in their proper place.
Knowing that beyond peacefulness awaits,
I glance back at the journey thus far
With tears in my eyes for what is lost
And a smile on my face for what has been gained
Holding COURAGE'S hand,
Embracing FEAR gently,
I take a step into the dark Forest
For I see a sliver of light shining
And it is beckoning me
The Jouney into the Unknown has begun....
