In addition to the #3940 Mighty Crane manufactured in construction yellow and sold through most all typical toy retailers, Tonka was contracted by JC Penney to manufacture a crane that was to be sold only by the department store. The Mighty Crane pictured to the left was manufactured by Tonka and sold only by JC Penney in 1976 and 1977. Notice that it is ocher (orange) in color. The tire hubs are also ocher. |
