Family and history of Aegiryn Fallowfield Berylstar:

Aegiryn originates from the Fallowfield clan of Emuria, a clan with close ties to the Berylstars. His immdiate family was very small, for Gypsies. His parents were Porthian and Kirie Fallowfield, respected members of their clan. Porthian, often called Thian for short, was a fighter who spent much of his spare time in one forge or another fashioning weapons for his clan. Kirie’s nimble fingers were among the best in the clan, whether stitching an intricate pattern on the clothes she made, or picking locks and disarming traps laid to catch the unwary. Kirie and Porthian began their family very young, but unfortunately Kirie was not a robust woman and had very difficult pregnancies. After several miscarriages, she bore twin sons: Lar the elder, and Aegiryn the younger. Years later she was again able to carry a child to term, and birthed the twins’ younger sister, Irina. Out of grave concern for his wife’s health, Porthian convinced her that three children was enough for any man.

As the twins grew to sturdy youths, they were sent to the Berylstar clan in exchange for a pair of youths from that clan whereby each of the young people could learn what they could from another clan’s masters. Lar and Aegiryn were each schooled in small weapons at their young age that they might be able to defend themselves. As they grew older they were able to choose what paths they wanted to follow. Lar returned to the Fallowfields to be apprenticed to their best armorsmith, and Aegiryn remained with the Berylstars to be apprenticed to a skilled alchemist and brewer named Acadian Berylstar. During the course of the clan's travels, the Berylstars entertained a port town where Aegiryn chose to sign on with the crew of the Brindenwald as cabin boy and galley hand. During his first voyage, the ship's cook contracted a fatal disease, leaving the Brindenwald to fend for their own food. Aegiryn stepped forward to fill the vacancy left by the deceased cook. For four years Aegiryn served on the ship cooking and learning a variety of useful skills. Aegiryn decided to leave the Brindenwald when the captain’s unsavory habit of cannibalism began to threaten the crew’s well-being. He jumped ship at a convenient port and made his way back to the Berylstars.

During the next couple years, he chose to further his education with Acadian, who was unusual for a Gypsy, but a rather personable fellow. He introduced Aegiryn to his brothers with whom he formed a fast friendship due to his merits as an exotic cook. Aegiryn had been back with the clan only a few weeks when he met a lovely Gypsy lass whose mere touch could melt his muscles. He visited her massage parlor many times following his days of carrying casks of hooch and ale for his master Acadian. It wasn't long before his visits had little to do with his muscles, and more to do with his heart. The smitten young man often returned to his labors at the brewery half heartedly, until Acadian happened to tire of his daydreaming.

In a rather pointed interview, he questioned Aegiryn closely as to the source of his distraction whereby he learned of the lovely young woman who had so besotted the man. He urged Aegiryn to be swift and straightforward with the girl in order to conclude the matter rapidly and thus get the wandering attention returned to the labors of the brewery. However, it was not until a few days later that Acadian discovered that the young lady in question was his own little sister! Suffice to say that Acadian was less than pleased, but after enough time to think on the matter and discuss it with his other brothers, he decided young Aegiryn was not such a bad match and allowed him to continue his courting. After the proper customs and interval of time, Aegiryn and Acadian’s younger sister, Galena, became engaged and finally married.
