Michael DeLorenzo's Chat
on TV Guide via AOL in '00

June 26, 2000 - TV Guide Online: Tonight we are chatting with Michael DeLorenzo
about the new Showtime series Ressurection Blvd. Hi Michael! Thanks for coming tonight!

DeLorenzo: Hello! What's happening?

Question: What is it like working on Resurrection Blvd.?

DeLorenzo: It's a lot of fun and a lot of hard work!!! I have to train all the time!!

Question: When does Resurrection Blvd. debut and how many episodes
are there going to be?

DeLorenzo: TONIGHT! 10:00PM SHARP on SHOWTIME. And they'll be 20 episodes!

Question: Are there many similarities between you and your character?

DeLorenzo: We're about the same height :) But I don't dress like he does in real life.
I dress better - I hope. :)

Question: What is your favorite episode of Resurrection Blvd.??

DeLorenzo: We've got a real good episode coming up - I think it's 5 or 6.
It speaks to the whole Rampart Scandal in LA.
The Rampart Scandal was about a bunch of LA cops who falsified
evidence and sent people to jail while they were the bad
guys - they were the ones dealing drugs. Not like those
NY Undercover guys... they always solve the crime in under an hour! :)

Question: Michael, I know you've done many theater productions in the past.
Do you ever plan on coming back to Broadway?

DeLorenzo: YEAH! I almost went back last year, but it didn't work out...
It hasn't worked out with my schedule yet... But I'd LOVE to come back.

Question: I remember you from Fast Forward! I think I saw that movie about 20 times.
Has your main focus always been as an actor or were you originally
wanting to be a dancer?

DeLorenzo: Oh, thank you! Originally, I wanted to be a dancer but I ruined
the cartilage in my knee and they told me I couldn't dance anymore.
So I had to think of something else where I could be in front of a lot of people :)

Question: I'm delighted to view RB, but you seem typecast as an Hispanic(PR) actor,
yet you look Italian, in the future do you plan to accept less "non-traditional roles"?

DeLorenzo: Well, I hope as an actor I get to play all kinds of roles!
Acting is a journey! It takes time.

Question: Hi Michael! I remember reading a while back that you wanted to direct
and produce episodes for NYU Do you still have that desire
and do you think you'll be given the chance to do so with RB
or any future projects?

DeLorenzo: ABSOLUTELY! I still have that desire and if we get picked up for
the second season I will definitely be directing
and I will be directing other things besides Resurrection Blvd.

Question: Are you single?

DeLorenzo: YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

Question: Do you keep in touch with any of your NY Undercover costars?

DeLorenzo: Yes! Me and Malik talk all the time! And I talk to everyone once in a while

Question: What trait do you most like in people? What trait do you most dislike?

DeLorenzo: Hmm. Intellect. That's what I most like. And the second would be someone
who does not have a sense of humor. That's what I dislike.

Question: Who in Hollywood do you admire and would love to work with in the future?

DeLorenzo: Oh, shoot. I love Al Pacino. There's a LOT of people!
We could be here for days!

Question: Michael - you have a great voice, where is that CD??

DeLorenzo: Check my website!www.michaeldelorenzo.com. We're going to be putting
it out in a month. Hopefully, shortly thereafter it'll be in stores!
I have some samples on my website, if you'd like to listen.

Question: How did you get cast in Resurrection Blvd.?

DeLorenzo: I did a program called The Wall for Showtime about a year ago
They contacted me for Resurrection Blvd. after that.

Question: If you weren't in the entertainment industry, what profession would you be in?

DeLorenzo: I'd like to be a pilot, I think. I like flying.

Question: Michael do you plan on going to the big screen in the near or distant future?

DeLorenzo: Well, I've done a bunch a movies... it just seems most of my movies
die!! Or I die in them! Hopefully, I'll have better luck in the future :)

Question: What advice what you give an aspiring actor like me?

DeLorenzo: Work hard! Study! Be persistent!

Question: Did you have to do a lot of training to prepare to play a boxer?

DeLorenzo: Yeah! I'm still training I can't eat any Twinkies and I have to work
out every day! My Twinkie habit was pretty bad - I LOVE sweets!
But I'm eating a lot of protein a lot of chicken, a lot of fish
and doing a lot of Stairmaster.

Question: Who have you connected with most on set?

DeLorenzo: Everybody's really cool It's fun. Every day you get to work
with different people. I know Tony really well and getting
to know Elizabeth is fantastic. The whole cast is really cool.

Question: About how many hours a day do you work?

DeLorenzo: It depends. We usually work 12 to 14 hours a day and that's NOT counting
the training. I have to get at least two hours a day of training!

TV Guide Online: Thanks Michael! We'll be watching!

DeLorenzo: Hey! Thank you so much for hanging out! Check out my website!
Look for my CD! It's going to be coming out soon!
